Contractor: Russet Construction / Spud Grimes

This residence overlooks beautiful MacKaye Harbor in the San Juan Islands. Anderson Masonry was contracted to build three elements that would tie together separate areas of the house: the main and secondary entrances and the view patio.

The patio offers stunning views of the harbor but could only be reached from inside the house. The new flagstone path links the secondary entrance to the rear patio, giving visitors a hint of the view which awaits them.

The secondary entrance to the house needed access steps from the garage/guesthouse building. The steps were designed to integrate with the native bedrock underlying the house site, and to tie into the flagstone path and entrance.

The third element of this project was to build an entrance landing to create a transition from the driveway to the entrance steps. 13 pieces of slate were fitted to create a wide and welcoming landing. Anderson Masonry also contructed an addition to the top step to bring it up to code.

  • Flagstone walkways tied into existing patios
  • Steps integrated with the native bedrock outcropping
  • All steps pinned and epoxied into existing stone
  • 13 piece stone radius front porch landing
